The purpose of this qualification is intended for people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to produce fashion illustrations, follow workplace safety procedures in a clothing production environment; communicate with colleagues and clients; lay and mark fabrics and garment pieces; construct and manipulate blocks; perform cutting, sewing and pressing operations; apply finishing procedures; apply quality standards in a clothing production environment. They are able to demonstrate basic knowledge of workplace health and safety, and apply fundamental communication and numeracy competencies in the workplace.
This unit standard specifies the competencies required to demonstrate awareness of HIV and AIDS ion the workplace. It includes knowledge of ways of 'positive living'with HIV and AIDS, ARV treatment, workplace issues related to HIV and AIDS, and the impact of HIV and AIDS on the workplace and national economy.
