This module is intended for those who demonstrate basic metal joining techniques used in automotive mechanics. People credited with this unit standard are able to: plan and prepare for work; join materials using mechanical fastening methods; join materials using gas welding procedures; join materials using arc welding procedures; heat materials using gas welding techniques and cut materials using arc welding techniques.

After: learning this module you are expected to: 

1. Demonstrate procedures for joining materials using arc welding procedures.
2. Demonstrate procedures for joining and heating materials using oxy-acetylene welding procedures. 
3. Demonstrate procedures for cutting materials using arc welding procedures.
4. Demonstrate procedures for joining materials using mechanical fastening methods.
