This foundational course is designed to equip trainees with the practical English communication and literacy skills necessary for success in the Namibian workplace. Aligned with NTA unit standards, the program develops core competencies in reading, interpreting, and using essential workplace documents, as well as effective interpersonal communication.
The course is structured around three key competency areas:

Reading Basic Workplace Documents: Trainees will learn to read and comprehend common workplace texts by using lists, skimming to grasp main ideas, scanning to locate specific information, and effectively using tables to organize and interpret data.

Interacting with Others in the Workplace: This module focuses on developing essential interpersonal skills, including effective oral communication, understanding and using non-verbal communication cues, and collaborating successfully within a team environment.

Using Basic Workplace Documents: Trainees will gain practical knowledge of documents commonly found in a work environment, including how to interpret flowcharts and specifications, navigate schedules and entry forms, read road maps, and understand the key provisions of the Labour Act.
By the end of this course, participants will have developed the basic reading, comprehension, and communication skills required to confidently handle workplace documentation and interact effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
