This subject is designed to equip Early Childhood Development student teachers with essential knowledge and strategies to promote mother tongue literacy in preschool settings. It highlights the importance of Oshindonga, Oshikwanyama, Otjiherero, and Rukwangali as foundational languages for communication, reading, and writing. The module provides practical approaches to strengthen oral expression, develop literacy through culturally relevant materials, and engage children in playful language activities. By fostering confidence in the mother tongue, teachers will help create inclusive and supportive learning environments that nurture identity, social development, and lifelong learning.
