Purpose

This unit standard specifies the competencies required to store and handle horticultural produce

after harvest. It is intended for those who work in agriculture as well as people in other occupations

that work with plants. 

It includes:

• Describe conditions required by stored horticultural products

• Coordinate handling, grading, packaging and transport of fruits and vegetables

• Ensure appropriate placement of horticultural products in storage

• Ensure appropriate operations to remove horticultural produce from storage

• Conduct post-storage operations.
