knowledge of motion, power and energy (movements), carry out calculations related to
conditions for equilibrium, apply knowledge of force, apply knowledge of friction, apply
knowledge related to mechanical drives and lifting machines, apply knowledge of
hydraulics and carry out calculations related to pressure in fluids, work done and
hydraulic presses, apply knowledge of the applications of electricity and demonstrate
basic knowledge chemistry. This unit standard is intended for people requiring
advanced engineering science skills as applied in different contexts.

- apply knowledge of friction,
- apply fundamental knowledge of heat,
- demonstrate fundamental knowledge of particle structure of matter
- basic principles of electricity and
- demonstrate basic knowledge of hydraulics.
