The purpose of this module is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to clean and service guest rooms and public areas in hospitality establishments. It includes cleaning vacant and occupied guest rooms, toilets and public bathrooms and the ability to follow cleaning schedules.
This unit standard specifies the competencies required to demonstrate
environmentally sound practices when conducting operations in an ecologically
sensitive environment.
It includes applying establishment policy and procedures to minimise damage to the
environment, observing environmentally sound practices when driving off road and
being aware of the relevant Namibian government and state-owned enterprises, nongovernmental organisations and international conservation organisations that are
responsible for protecting Namibia’s natural environment. This unit standard is
intended for those who work in the hospitality and tourism industry.
This unit standard specifies the competencies required to provide porter services in a
hospitality establishment. People credited with this unit standard are able to: handle
guests on arrival and departure; handle guest luggage; and promote products and
porter services to customers.
This unit standard specifies the competency required to apply basic computing skills
as part of front office operations. People credited with this unit standard are able to:
demonstrate safe practice when using a computer; produce simple word processed
documents; use basic internet and email applications; and maintain database or
spreadsheet records.
